Hi Guys - Looking for some board advice.
I do most of my sailing on a lake in mass, but in August I am in Matunuk RI quite a bit. I have taken my Madd 135 out a few times but it seemed to have a hard time in the chop. I am looking for a fairly inexpensive board that can handle the chop better. Which do you think is better...
91 Naish Titan (109L) or FSW 84 JP Freestyle (84L). Been looking at that 2011 iSonic in the classified ads as well but I think that would be the same issue as my Madd 135. But its only 97L...an it handle chop?
Thanks in advance. |

1. Play with fins on the 135...you might make it more friendly
2 That's a big drop from 135 to the JP
3 My guess is that the Titan would be a better next board
4. The iSonic will be too twitchy for you _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |

I've been sailing for quite a while, even spent a month at the George about 15 years ago. Sailed a 7' 10" glass board out there, loved the board but sold when I moved to mass. |

1. Titan, sail range 4.7 thru 7.5, safe and easy to uphaul, easy jiber.
2. Any freeride board around 100-115 liters, good for 4.7 thru 7.5 sails.
3. FSW 84 if you weigh less than 150 lbs., uphaulable, for sails from 4.2 to 6 meters.
4. Isonic....problem is, while pros ride it in anything less than 30 mph winds, most rec sailors will park it in the van after the winds hit 22 mph, going to either of the two boards above. Yes, the Isonic with a 7.5 can plane up sooner than the two above, but it also is only dialed in with heavy multi battened, and a few cam slalom type sails. |

We need to know your body weight, skill level and sails that you plan to use before we could answer your post. |

Sounds like the Titan is a good choice. I'm 180 lbs. My favorite sail used to be a 4.5 but don't get many opportunities to use that anymore. Now I sail 6 - 7.5, mostly 7.5. I can waterstart & jibe without a problem but limited sailing for the past 17 years raising the family. |
