My home water is a warm lake in the scorching south. I happen to live on this lake as well. I think about this often. I even joke about it when my wife and I are swimming. I swim behind my house where the water is about 93 degrees at the surface in July through the beginning of Sept. I sail at the other end of the lake where the water is a little cooler because it is open water. I have had a sinus full of water on several occasions, both behind my house and on the open end where I sail. It is my understanding that you have a greater chance of inhaling the parasite close to the bottom in shallow warm water. To my knowledge there are no confirmed cases coming from my lake (Lake D'arbonne) I have thought about wearing clips, but have never got around to actually getting some. I exhale when I fall in. Life is full of risks, I guess I'll take my chances. The odds are in my favor. |

Probably more dangerous when the water get's into your eyes, than anywhere else.
Take a fresh water shower after the dip, and if you ears retain water, rinse it out with a 1/3 solution of white vinagar, alchohol, and distilled water, just like the ear drops you can buy. |
