I vote for the 125. They changed that board for this year to make it skinnier and wider. Skinnier and wider will make that board plane a bit earlier, and be more controllable in higher wind conditions.
They didn't do that to the 115.
I have the 125, and have had a couple of days way over powered ( I weigh 200, and the winds were 25 gusting over 33). I have a Firemove 122, and the Rocket 125 is just about the same board - which is to say that it is a really good board for 6.5 to 7.5 conditions.
I like my Rocket 125. |

I also weigh 160 lb and bought a 125L Rocket 5 years ago when I was at your skill level. I've learned to water-start, sail in the straps, and make my first carve gybes with it and it is still the board I use the most. I'm not sure how things would have worked out if I bought a 115L instead but things worked out great with my 125L. |
