Rachel Maddow Grabs Another Weekly Win From Fox News and Floundering Sean Hannity

Quote:
few weeks ago Fox News had to realign their schedule due to all the sexual perverts being terminated. First they lost Bill O'Reilly, and then Eric Bolling. They also lost Megyn Kelly, who was a victim of the sexual abuse from both O'Reilly and Fox News CEO Roger Ailes. These scandals gutted most of the network's primetime lineup. Today they are left with newcomers Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham.

Sean Hannity is the lone holdover and he's not not exactly holding his own. For one thing, his support for the pedophile Republican senate candidate in Alabama, Roy Moore, is costing him advertisers (see Stop Hannity. His fear and desperation resulting from that caused a major meltdown on Sunday as revealed in a series of hysterical tweets. But his problems don't end there.

Last week Rachel Maddow pulled off another ratings victory over her new competition. Not that they are competing for the same viewers, but having a Nielsen win during your time period is an important factor in the television marketplace. Maddow's strength in the ratings against the biggest draw on Fox News is a significant development and a dire dilemma for Hannity.

Maddow and Hannity actually split the week with each winning two nights (Maddow was preempted on Friday by a special program). However, the average over the four nights favored Maddow. That's because her wins were with larger margins, and where she came in second it was close. All of this points to the weakness of Hannity's program despite being the top rated show on Fox.

Maddow's success has had a positive effect on the rest of MSNBC's primetime. The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell took on Fox's new Laura Ingraham show and beat her three out of four nights. The same was true for The Eleventh Hour with Brian Williams in it's battle with another new entry for Fox, Fox News @ Night. The only weak spot for MSNBC is All In with Chris Hayes. But although it isn't delivering big audience numbers, it has become a sort of Emmy magnet. Hopefully over time viewers will appreciate the high quality of the show and tune in more.

I think this fits appropriately that these morons were qualified for Fox...

I never liked any of these guys. And what is interesting it never hit me till I read this persons point. These slimes did attack hillary when she was running unfairly. But I have hated each one and never listened to one of them more than a few minutes. and always wanted to puke as each was on.

The Men Who Cost Clinton the Election - Men Like Matt Lauer and Charlie Rose

Quote:
Matt Lauer, like Charlie Rose and Mark Halperin before him, is a journalist out of a job after his employer fired him for sexually harassing female colleagues. It’s good news that real penalties are now leveled on men who harass — after centuries of the costs mostly befalling the women who endure harassment. But the deep cultural rot that has corroded nearly all of our institutions and every corner of our culture is not just about a few badly behaved men. Sexual harassment, and the sexism it’s predicated on, involves more than the harassers and the harassed; when the harassers are men with loud microphones, their private misogyny has wide-reaching public consequences. One of the most significant: the 2016 election.

Many of the male journalists who stand accused of sexual harassment were on the forefront of covering the presidential race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Matt Lauer interviewed Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Trump in an official “commander-in-chief forum” for NBC. He notoriously peppered and interruptedMrs. Clinton with cold, aggressive, condescending questions hyper-focused on her emails, only to pitch softballs at Mr. Trump and treat him with gentle collegiality a half-hour later. Mark Halperin and Charlie Rose set much of the televised political discourse on the race, interviewing other pundits, opining themselves and obsessing over the electoral play-by-play. Mr. Rose, after the election, took a tone similar to Mr. Lauer’s with Mrs. Clinton — talking down to her, interrupting her, portraying her as untrustworthy. Mr. Halperin was a harsh critic of Mrs. Clinton, painting her as ruthless and corrupt, while going surprisingly easy on Mr. Trump. The reporter Glenn Thrush, currently on leave from The New York Times because of sexual harassment allegations, covered Mrs. Clinton’s 2008 campaign when he was at Newsday and continued to write about her over the next eight years for Politico.

Bill O’Reilly’s Supposed Lawsuit Against Accuser’s Ex Was Actually Never Filed

Quote:
YetBack in October, Bill O’Reilly was poised to sue an ex-New Jersey Assemblyman who wrote a Facebook post alleging that the former Fox News host harassed his ex-girlfriend, who worked at the network. Michael Panter described how when he was dating the woman, she talked about how O’Reilly would ask her out. He also recalled alleged late night phone calls that O’Reilly made to her. The post also described an alleged phone call from O’Reilly, asking the woman to get him dirt on another woman who had made a claim against him. Panter said he was posting this because, unlike his ex, he’s not bound by a nondisclosure agreement. O’Reilly denied all wrongdoing, and threatened to sue Panter for defamation. So where’s the lawsuit?

O’Reilly did file a summons and notice against Panter in New York state court, seeking $5 million in damages for defamation. Of course, a summons and notice is not the same as an actual complaint, it’s simply meant to require the defendant to respond before a complaint is filed. Panter did respond, by removing the case to federal court, noting in his court filing that he was never even served with O’Reilly’s state court notice.

Since then, O’Reilly’s lawyers from the law firm Hoguet Newman Regal & Kenney filed a civil cover sheet, but that was back on November 22, and still no complaint has been filed in this case.

Law&Crime reached out to O’Reilly’s lawyers, asking if they still intend to move forward with the lawsuit, but they have not responded.

Panter, meanwhile, is preparing for battle.

In an updated version of his Facebook post, Panter linked to a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for legal expenses. He hired Lisa Bloom‘s law firm to represent him. He is also considering bringing a case of his own against O’Reilly. In a statement, Panter said:

I am speaking the truth, and expect my account to be fully corroborated.

His actions give me a small sense of what victims must feel when speaking up against powerful men, and why more men hesitate to do so.

I spoke up, and hope I’ll be supported as I’ve supported others.

After discussing this matter with a leading firm, I believe there is a strong basis to bring defamation claims against Mr. O’Reilly.

Since I am not seeking personal gain, any recovery would be devoted to groups supporting victims of sexual harassment and abuse.

It is my hope that course of action will not be necessary, and these matters can be more amicably resolved.

Fox military analyst says network makes him ashamed

Quote:
NEW YORK (AP) — A military analyst for Fox News said Tuesday that he was quitting the network because he believed it had turned into a propaganda machine for President Donald Trump's administration.

Ralph Peters, a retired U.S. Army officer, said he told Fox at the beginning of the month that he did not want his contributor contract renewed.

Former Fox News anchor sues O'Reilly for defamation

Quote:
NEW YORK (AP) — A former Fox News anchor filed a defamation lawsuit on Thursday over comments by Bill O'Reilly it says were meant to damage the reputations of women who have accused him of harassment.

The suit by Laurie Dhue in federal court in Manhattan accuses O'Reilly of engaging in a "smear campaign" against his accusers after the former prime-time star or Fox settled their claims for millions of dollars. At least three other women have filed similar suits.

"As part of his desperate campaign to clear his name, O'Reilly published false statements about Dhue . calling her a liar, swearing that her allegations were fabricated in an effort to obtain a settlement," according to the suit, which seeks unspecified damages. It also accuses him of "falsely asserting that her purported claims against O'Reilly were politically motivated."

Fox ousted O'Reilly last year after The New York Times reported that at least five women with professional ties to him had received payouts totaling $13 million to settle claims of sexual harassment and other misbehavior. The newspaper said Dhue received $1 million.

There was no immediate response on Thursday to a request for comment from one of O'Reilly's lawyers. In court papers filed earlier this week in the suits brought by the three other women, his lawyers called the defamation claims "frivolous and wholly unsupported in law or fact."

Bullying seems to be a Christian and family value. I think Laura Ingraham should be run out of town on a rail. But because I’m not a Christian, I wouldn’t tar and feather her first.
