|
I landed my first forward today! I added speed and moved my back hand as far back as i could and changed the rotation to the better, had about 3 attempts where i came really close and then sailed away and it wasn´t even super wet
This has been a long road. about 3 years ago i decided to finally start trying them, had one day of going for it and was starting to land on my back. Then I had to have an ICD fitted. When that happened i first thought i would stop windsurfing, and for sure would not be going for loops. Then slowly i started sailing again but it messed up with my confidence big time. Afraid of disconnecting the leads to the heart, hitting the device and damaging it or displacing it. ICD doctors are not big fans of action sports so i wasn´t exactly engouraged to go sailing.
But this season i felt more confident and decided to start working on them. Today was session number 5 and it all clicked, i´m a very happy windsurfer today. |

Congratulations on your first dry forward.
I almost did a backward one time, but I can confirm that it was purely unintentional. But the guys on the beach thought it was, well, interesting, and worthy of comments. Nice guys.
Not to hijack your thread. Much. |

Thanks for the comments guys!
About the fear factor.. I have been thinking about htis move for a loong time like most windsurfers. And always been too scared.. then i kind of got fed up with that fear and decided to only think about forwards when i went windsurfing and just be happy with every lame attempts that i did. I did that first step of the Remko guide quite a lot and then went from there to step 4 (skipped 2 and 3). Just very slowly to start with and gradually built up confidence from there. Worst phase was when i was going for them with speed but not holding back enough on the boom. Had a little bit of a soar neck after that session but after fixing that it just clicked.
Hope to do some more soon. |

Nice! Congratulations. Thanks for posting. Your story might just motivate me to get over all the excuses I always come up with for not even trying. |

Been meaning to congratulate you on your first one too, Rexi!
Just a dumb Windsurfing move, but I bet it felt great! I've been trying them for a long time, so can only imagine.
Thinking the post session beer tasted so good after that one! |
