Anyone have any experience renting in ARUBA. Going in Feb, 2017. Looks like it is Vela vs Aruba Active Vacations. AAV claims to have better access to clean air not blocked by hotels. Vela is upfront about their site being partly blocked and needing to walk up the beach a bit. Any info provided is greatly appreciated. I am a 25 year windsurfer.

Was there twice. Rented from Vela. Great experience.
Arranged accommodation through HappyArubaRentals.

There was a little bit of shadow from highrises. Not too bad. I heard Vela have moved to more opened space since ten.

Andrei.

Great experience with Vela. Either way you'll be dealing with offshore breeze and hotel shadow so you'll want to get out a little offshore.

It took me a few hours to get the feel for the offshore conditions but once you get dialed in, you'll have fun dodging the sea turtles over the turqois water.

Take advantage of the big orange cooler 500yards offshore to rehydrate!

I was last in Aruba in February 2015. Vela Aruba rents great equipment and has a ton of it to try out. The container-based shop a few hundred feet north will indeed be a bit closer to the windline, but I was very happy with Vela.

Here was my write-up from that trip, if interested: http://www.iwindsurf.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=29529
