Battle of the Bay Watersports Festival Sept. 17 and 18

Hello all you racers, free riders, windfoilers, Longboarders, aka windsurfers.

As our race season is coming to an end this year, we'd like to welcome and support this new event into our calendar to close off the year. On September 17 and 18, the 2016 Battle of the Bay will be held at Crissy Field.

The Battle of the Bay created by Bluerush Boardsports has been a huge Standup Paddle event in the bay area since 2011. Professional Paddlers from all over the world will be battling it out for a $16,000 purse. Kiters and Windsurfers will be showcased for the first time this year and I am inviting all of you to come and support and more importantly represent our sports.

The current plan is to have 3 major classes for the windsurfing. Open, slalom and Freeride.
The Open class will run a course race and for Slalom and Freeriders a figure "8" course.
We are encouraging Windfoils to come and show off their stuff and of course formula and slalom. The Freeride class will be limited to Non-race gear. Ride what you got. Free ride boards, longboards, etc.

The overall winner will be crowned the Northern California Windsurf Champion and the top 3 overall will take home a $$$prize based on participation. Something we haven't seen in the Bay Area in years. Awards will also be given to top 3 in each class.

The NORs are being developed as we speak but we wanted to get the BoB on your schedule as soon as possible. The entry free is currently $50 for early birds but will go up to $70 next week. Races will be held on Sunday and Saturday will be a demo/showcase day.

We are really counting on all of you to show up and represent to the SUP communities that windsurfing is alive and well in SF Bay. And while you're at it, why not do a couple of Standup Paddle races.
