I was very curious to see how those new stubbies rode. Previously the Fanatic Freewave didn't feel so exciting to ride but this new stubby felt like a whole different animal.

Here is the full test: http://windsurfing.lepicture.com/board-tests/#2017-Fanatic-Freewave-STB

In brief, I really enjoy the speed generated by riding backfoot in onshore conditions. I wonder how much different the "real" stubby is. Overall the board felt really easy to ride and is "surfable" which is a nice trait for a freewave.

Nice review. What size sail did you test it with, what was the wind like when you used it and how much do you weigh?

Thanks all. I try to relay both findings and enjoyment at the same time!

Conditions were choppy, quite side-on 1m+ round waves, 15-20 knots. I weigh 150lbs, 68kgs and was on 5.0.

Usual conditions where we can plane but not fast enough for big jumps and ride on the way back what we can find, trying to go frontside or backside.

So it was underpowered bump & jump with some crossing choppy swell. hahaha what a crappy year!
