This is > 8 years old and addresses wave boards instead of "freewaves", but it's a start. I found the article dead spot on, right down to the very boards they discussed.

I thought this was a good write-up on the Cube and two other Quatro wave boards. They really like the Cube.

currently riding all for wave sailing

2017 Quatro Super min 105. does every thing 110 l cube did better. side off, side on and onshore all very good. Onshore for wave sailing is really not so much fun no matter what board. But some times you have got to do it.
I use super mini almost exclusively with 5.3M sail 160 lbs. 12 kts side off to 20 onshore. Slogs fine. super quick to plane. had some very steep drops and no pearling.
Also not bad at flippy slidey freestyle.

2016 Quatro sphere 85: not really stubby but great all around wave board
has a bit longer water line than the cube and pyramid. Can slog if side to side off. Good for 4.2-5.3 wind for me.

For me if there are waves and onshore light wind i try to find some where to surf. Not stressed about trying to sail.

The UK Windsurf magazine did a test of some of the stubbies:

I find these tests ambiguous to read, but I'm interpreting their test as the Fanatic Stubby 88 as their favorite.

So you like the Super Mini over the Cube?- I bought my Cube just before the Super Mini came out, oh well!

big note, lots on these forums buy stuff based on california, hawaii, and other windy spot inputs.

there are tons of places that are not. the industry has very few offerings of large(ish) stuff for more common places.

to scoff at my responses, and snubbing prevailing conditions just confirms that when people buy gear that only works in ideal conditions, they move on to kiting.

sailed with a guy in side on at ponce inlet. he chose a 5.2 with his stubby 88. i chose a 105 and 6.8 sail. i rode 30 waves to his ZERO. wind was 16-22. tide was slack to incoming. waves were 12 feet. he took up kiting and has only just sailed again during this past hurricane.

you guys can love on your ideal conditions crap all you want. any time you want to sail in more realistic stuff, come on down to florida or lots of other spots. you get worked. snub all you want, you won't sail

I do like super min over cube for where is mostly sail.
Not that i did not like the Cube loved it.

There are so many great spots to sail and thankfully there is so much great gear to choose from and try.

There is not a one thing for all situations here
And we are lucky to be able to choose.

You really have to look at where you sail
Real time conditions
And your needs and skills
Make wise board and sail decisions.

Why would we want to come to Florida? Maybe you should come up north, just saying.
You,ve been beating this horse to death for so many years, I kinda understand but can't you just give it a rest.
This post is about stubby boards not your local sailing conditions.

Geesh, somebody got off the wrong side of his old school board this morning.
Your anecdotal example is just that, anecdotal, maybe you are a better sailor that he was, but you chose to blame his equipment.
Feel free to enjoy your equipment where ever you want, but slamming something new because it doesn't work for you is disingenuous at best.
