Speaking of swamps, or overflowing porta-poots ... I hope every one of the rotten POSs involved in that college entrance cheating ring spends from 10 to 20 years in prison. Think how your hard-working kid would feel knowing that he failed to get a well-deserved slot at a top school because some rich kid's parents BOUGHT their little POS a slot by paying 6- to 7-figure bribes to coaches, ACT exam monitors, professional test-takers (they even identified one by name; he needs at least a decade in prison), etc. One of these spoiled little shits was boasting on YouTube that she didn't expect to bother with classes, just wanted to party. My hypothetical kid would not get one cent from me, for school or in my will, if that was her attitude, and I'd be ashamed to admit I was her father.

Is this how you immoral (by definition and demonstration) liberals raise your GD kids, or is this kind of behavior simply rampant these days?

A measure of how people like iso prevent facts from reaching their brains. To be sure, the scandal is shocking and plenty of people should be punished. Of note, many of the scandals involve USC and tech or real estate moguls—folks that generally espouse a libertarian world view. Restrictions on their “freedom” can be ignored with impunity.

It seems more to be like a case of unbridled narcissism—like we have in the Oval Office.

Why do the conservatives here attribute every bad act to liberals? Get real...people in both parties do stupid things.

Major Political Donors Indicted In Sweeping College Admissions Investigation
Two presidential candidates, the DNC and RNC were among recipients. There’s no evidence any elected official helped the donors’ children gain acceptances.

Many parallels between this university scandal, which may just be the tip of the iceberg, and illegal immigration.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, hates somebody cutting in line.
Legal immigration takes some time and commitment, earning your way into a university also take some time and commitment. So when people cut in line, showing no commitment to the rules, the people who have been doing it the correct way, have all the reason in the world to be pissed off. It's the same with legal immigrants, they mostly support a wall as the polls have shown, and that includes mostly legal Hispanic immigrants. Not to mention the people currently in line to get their citizenship.

There are illegal practices done by others that facilitate these crimes to occur, south of the border you have the crime cartels making huge amounts of money that families are paying them to get themselves, or their children, to illegally cross the border, those cartel members are called "coyotes".
Here in the U.S. you have similar types, like Singer, probably one of many yet to be discovered, essentially doing the same thing, with some help from dirty employees of universities and entrance exam organizations, being paid serious money for their criminal behavior. Those people could easily be called "education coyotes".

It will be very interesting to see how many people that are incensed by the university scandal, are also in favor of having no wall, or see no crisis at the border.

Melania Trump was paid for 10 modeling jobs in the United States worth $20,056 that occurred in the seven weeks before she had legal permission to work in the country, according to detailed accounting ledgers, contracts and related documents from 20 years ago provided to The Associated Press.

nw30, I think you are confusing what Republicans and Democrats want and their values on the one hand, and the respective policies to achieve this on the other hand.

For example, Ds and Rs don't disagree on the college admission cheating, and in this case, they probably won't disagree much on policies to reduce it either.

For illegal immigration, the majority of Ds do not want it, just like Rs. They disagree on policies. Rs want to waste money on walls pushed by some Fox News characters, and separate children from parents to cause maximal trauma. Ds want to spend money as efficiently as possible and not harm children. (Ok, that may be an oversimplification, but just to make the point.)

So, your implication that Ds, because they don't agree with Rs on immigration policies also don't mind cheating at college admissions is wrong.

PS. I think a much bigger problem for college admission is the legal "cheating" by wealthy people. Like Kushner's dad pledging $2.5 million to Harvard when his son was applying - successfully as it turns out and despite low grades. And the huge industry around improving resumes and test scores of children of wealthy parents.

Not surprisingly, you missed the point..."Everyone, and I mean everyone, hates somebody cutting in line. Trump gave his now wife a cut in line...

You may have noticed that I didn't mention either party, because I recognize that many of the legal Hispanics that are in favor of much better border control, and can vote, are in fact democrats. As well as I'm sure that many of the cheating parents aren't all democrats, but republicans as well.
But if you want to take it that that conclusion about it all being R's against D's, well that's your prerogative.

So much nonsense from the right. The immigration policies now in place stem at least in part from the time of Ronald Reagan. At the behest of California agriculture interests—largely corporate and nearly uniformly Republican—they left the door wide open for agricultural workers. At least part of that was to supress agricultural wages and undermine the Farmworker’s union. Democrats didn’t much like those policies because of their ties to unions and the farmworkers.

Other industries, meat packing, construction, and hotels—took advantage of those policies to hire immigrants without really checking for citizenship. Subsequent administrations—from both parties—made enforcement of immigration a relatively low priority.

Years passed and there were millions of immigrants in this country without permission. Many had been here for more than a decade, many had been brought here as children and had no memory of the country their parents had left. The consensus in the country—represented by a bipartisan bill that passed the senate—was that we should recognize the value that these people had contributed to the country, and create a pathway, long and difficult, to citizenship. Twenty lunatics from the Tea Party killed that consensus. Then the most corrupt POS to ever enter politics thought he could run for President by demonizing those folks.

I know NW and many others don’t put much stock in studying history. Perhaps you all are senile enough to not notice when you begin reliving it.
