Here'as a little help. Diane Ravitch has written and researched extensively on public education. She was high in the Bush I administration. Here's her take on Devos:

Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he is appointing as education secretary Betsy DeVos, the billionaire Republican who is a major champion and founding funder of the modern education privatization movement. Bringing no significant experience in public education, DeVos is a billionaire member of a family that has cultivated extensive power and influence in conservative circles thanks to its fortune from the Amway Corporation.

Trump’s appointment immediately provoked objection, with writer and historican Diane Ravitch slamming DeVos as someone who “does not hide her contempt for the public schools.”

There are certainly well-meaning people who support charter schools, and places where the schools are such a mess that charters make sense. But there are also people lining up to take the money from public education and establish separate schools that don't accept students with issues. Like my grandson.

Look Mac, public schools have been failing for decades. The fact that DeVos doesn't like public schools makes her smart. There will always be a place for autistic children and other troubled kids. Not even I, who's right of Genhgis Khan wants to fail our children.

Why do you believe public schools are failing?

So many scandals for the Right wing to ignore.

reasury Department lawyers consulted with the White House general counsel’s office about the potential release of President Trump’s tax returns before House Democrats formally requested the records, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Tuesday.

Mnuchin had not previously revealed that the White House was playing any official role in the Treasury Department’s decision on releasing Trump’s tax returns.

Democrats are asking for six years of Trump’s returns, using a federal law that says the treasury secretary “shall furnish” the records upon the request of House or Senate chairmen. The process is designed to be walled off from White House interference, in part because of corruption that took place during the Teapot Dome scandal in the 1920s.

Mnuchin revealed the discussions during a congressional hearing. He said he had not personally spoken with anyone from the White House about the tax returns, but he said that members of his team had done so.

The law is clear, Trump's records cannot be withheld.

This is a central theme in all the news accounts of why Trump turned on her.

“The president called Ms. Nielsen at home early in the mornings to demand that she take action to stop migrants from entering the country, including doing things that were clearly illegal, such as blocking all migrants from seeking asylum,” the New York Times reports. “She repeatedly noted the limitations imposed on her department by federal laws, court settlements and international obligations. Those responses only infuriated Mr. Trump further.”

It’s part of a pattern. Trump has repeatedly shown disdain for the rule of law. The president declared a national emergency on Feb. 15 so he could divert money from the military to build his wall, even though his own lawyers at the White House and Justice Department advised him against doing so.

Okay, technically this is fascism.

The Interior Department posted new versions of acting Interior Secretary David Bernhardt's daily schedules, which show at least 260 differences from the schedules originally made public, including specifics about meetings previously only labeled "internal" and "external" that were actually held between Bernhardt and executives at Chevron Corp. and Royal Dutch Shell PLC. Interior provided the records to the House Natural Resources Committee on March 25 as part of the committee's inquiry into Bernhardt's schedules and subsequently posted the documents online on April 2. ( Roll Call)

Mrgybe's buddies at work.

Quote:
An Interior Department invoice labeled "Federal Lobbying" dated March 2017, as well as other records obtained by an environmental group and reviewed by a media outlet, show that acting Secretary David Bernhardt worked with former client Westlands Water District as late as April 2017 when he was nominated as deputy Interior secretary, despite Bernhardt having given notice in November 2016 that he was no longer a lobbyist. Bernhardt faces a confirmation vote by a Senate committee today, and Interior spokeswoman Faith Vander Voort said the invoice was mislabeled and did not relate to lobbying work. ( The New York Times)

Quote:
The Interior Department's internal watchdog is looking at claims that David Bernhardt, the agency's acting secretary, violated his ethics pledge by seeking to loosen protections for threatened fish species and increase Californian farmers' access to water, but a spokeswoman for the office said it has not started a formal inquiry. At least two outside groups, along with Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), have asked for an investigation into Bernhardt's role in the agency's push for an environmental review of proposed changes to water projects in California, given Bernhardt's past lobbying on behalf of the Westlands Water District, which helps farmers in the state's Central Valley. ( The Washington Post)

More conflicts of interest. Grifters, all of them.

Quote:
Elko, Nev.-based gold miner U.S. Gold Corp. announced that it has brought on former Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke to its board of directors for $114,000 per year plus up to $120,000 annually in expenses. The company has business before the Interior Department, and the miner's chief executive, Edward Karr, said he expects Zinke's previous role at the agency will help U.S. Gold Corp. advance on mining projects. (The Associated Press)

Quote:
Why it matters: President Trump campaigned on the promise of "draining the swamp." But Bernhardt is just the latest in a revolving door of special interests to take over key positions in the president's Cabinet. The New York Times’ Eric Lipton notes that as of Thursday, the Defense Department will be run by a former Boeing executive, the Department of Health and Human Services will be run by a former pharmaceutical lobbyist and the Environmental Protection Agency will be run by a former coal lobbyist.

More corruption for the righties to ignore.

Quote:
The Interior Department acknowledged that staff intentionally excluded some meetings due to "internal protocol" from the public calendar of now-Interior Secretary David Bernhardt that he had with fossil fuel, water and other interests and confirmed that he continues to use one Google document for scheduling that has often been overwritten by staff. Separately, the agency's internal watchdog said it has launched an inquiry into Bernhardt's "potential conflicts of interest and other violations."

Bernhardt met in April 2018 with Marc Kasowitz, a former lawyer for President Donald Trump, whose law firm was working with the Schaghticoke tribal nation at the time in opposition to other tribes' requests to operate a casino in Connecticut, according to agency documents. Bernhardt's predecessor, Ryan Zinke, is reportedly under investigation by a grand jury over his role in blocking tribes' requests to run the casino.

More conflicts of interest:

Quote:
After a nonprofit submitted a complaint about possible violations of conflict of interest rules, the Interior Department's watchdog is investigating six Trump administration appointees over their contact with former employers or clients on issues related to the agency. Assistant Secretary for Insular and International Affairs Doug Domenech, for example, met twice while in office with people from the Texas Public Policy Foundation, a think tank where he used to work, according to his calendars. More alligators.

Quote:
Two internal memos show that senior Environmental Protection Agency officials disregarded dozens of EPA experts that pressed for a full ban on new uses of asbestos, choosing instead to allow potential approval of future uses of the carcinogenic substance, as the agency has permitted as of April. The internal experts criticized the EPA's use of a "decades old" evaluative method of studying only six fibers of asbestos and disregarding legacy effects of mishandled asbestos. (The New York Times)

Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) cautioned that the House Oversight and Reform Committee could withhold salaries under existing law for Interior Department staff who are preventing interviews with agency employees over Secretary David Bernhardt's recordkeeping habits. Interior has told the committee that its interview requests "are unnecessary at this time," according to a new letter from the panel to Interior. (Politico)

Wapo: Trump tries to steer billion dollar contract to GOP donor and frequent Fox News guest
Quote:

The Washington Post is reporting that President Trump is trying to steer billions of dollars of his border wall construction to a North Dakota based firm, run by a GOP donor who appears frequently on Fox News. The Washington Post’s Jacqueline Alemany and Politico’s Anna Palmer that and if the Trump vs. Pelosi feud has become more than just the usual partisan bickering.

trump said he knew and would hiiiiiiiire the best people. well most are so corrupt that he hired and one the former head of one of the largest companies in the US well, as trump put it in his oppionion a guy he hired, dumber than a roock.

and now very few want to work with him because they know their corrupt ways will be investigated. So he has to draw on 20 year olds in their first or second so-called professional political job. Again the right have no brains working for them.

"The fact that some 23- or 24-year-old person on the advance team went to that site and said 'Oh my goodness, there's the John McCain, we all know how the president feels about the former senator, maybe that's not the best backdrop, can somebody look into moving it?' That's not an unreasonable thing to ask," Mulvaney said.
