|

Hey, I'm pretty new to the sport, and I have a 11'8" exocet windsup, which i enjoy sailing very much; transporting, not so much. It's big and heavy, and when the wind is pushing it around, it becomes rather hard to handle, especially for a lightweight like me.
Anyone have suggestions for a lighter weight longboard?
I'm curious about this inflatable starboard airplane. Has anyone actually tried one? Seems like the long version would be a lightweight alternative, if it actually works. |

"when the wind is pushing it around"
almost sounds like you need a heavier board
an inflatable board is even less control bidirectionally
a carbon longboard is 2-3 kg less weight than an Exocet 11'8" AST WindSUP
and REALLY expensive or hard to find like a Mistral Equipe II XR
(which i have)
people rave about the carbon K1/Kona One, but it is expensive also
perhaps the K1 is an option for you ?? |

If the wind is strong enough to be pushing your board around and making it hard to handle then a smaller board would be better for those conditions. Exocet wind sups are great but yes they are heavy. Try a large free ride board. They are lighter and the large ones just as stable. |

I have sailed a few inflatables, and I was quite amazed how light they were in comparison to traditional longboards. It's definitely something worth considering - check the test in the UK Windsurf magazine says so:

Starboard claims their 2017s are up to 20% lighter than 2016s, and they have an interesting new mast foot system. I want one, Santa! |
