max fin size should be no longer than width of board 30cm, or 1 foot forward of tail.
I would probably suggest no longer than 46 cm fins for 9.5 sail.
2 types of spins happen.
wash out. pushing too hard too soon. typically, one needs to go faster, OR move adjust mast base positions. when using a smaller fin, it usually grips better with base back. a 34 is a total mismatch with 9.5
cavitation is the other. that's going faster than the fin can allow water to stay adhered to fin. if the fin is butchered, cavitation can happen at slower speeds.

I will definitely stop by north beach windsurfing sometime soon and see what the have. But it does sound like I could definitely benefit from a new bigger fin. Thanks for all the help and recommendations! Happy new year! |

The damage on the existing Fin, does not help the nospin
They don't allow a smooth passage of h2o.
Sooner or later on a fin you will need to sand and reshape . _________________ K4 fins

MyTrims.com calls for a 48cm fin on the 142 with sails ranging from 6.0 - 9.0.
At your weight, a 48cm fin may even be a bit small.
I use a 42cm fin on my isonic 111 (108L slalom board) with a 7.6 race sail and I weigh 170. |

The long Fin is a K4 Fang, free ride . Coming in 30--40cm powerbox and Tuttle.
Available in the U.K. FROM K4 or 4Boards.
I have yet to try the longer fin in the photo. _________________ K4 fins

Interesting that a single fin covers 6--9 meter sails. _________________ K4 fins
