Hi rtz,
The 4.7 is plenty small if you use a harness. The harness takes all of the work out of it. Your arms will be forever grateful to you.

Don't do it with that sail. You will quickly out grow it. |

The thing to get is lessons. A few lessons will move you forward, and make the gear you already own more useful, valuable and fun. Your current challenges are not going to be solved with different gear. _________________ Michael

The sail in your link is a school/beginner sail & not designed for high winds, but learning in 10-20 mph winds. It is a small, low wind sail designed to be easy to uphaul & last.

Without using the harness almost any sail is unmanageable in the hands of anyone but a very experienced windsurfer. I practice sailing unhooked and it's exhausting. |

rtz,
I have an old 2000 Ezzy 4.2 that is in good condition and will work well on a 400-430 constant curve mast, Fiberspar , Neil Pryde and others. I have not used it in at least 10 years. If you want it you can have it for 50 bucks + shipping. PM me if you are interested. |

My wife uses this sail (3.0) here in the Gorge when it is 25mph+ and she loves it. She is just learning to get in the harness. Just realize that what the others say is true, as you progress you will eventually grow out of it. For her it is worth the money to have an easy sail to handle while learning and progressing. Newer high wind used sails are readily available as evidenced by Slinky's offer |
