Is there one out there at aluminum prices or half the cost of other carbon booms that you have seen?

Yep ... but only at swap meets. Excellent ones go for $150 around here. I'd eat mine out of spite before selling an $800 boom for $150.
Now, BUYING them at that price is a different story.

Mmmmm carbon, it's crunchy ;*)

p.s. Mr. rtz There's no retail carbon boom out there that you can get
for near the same price as an aluminum boom, in fact, not even for as low
as twice as much as an aluminum boom.
I bought my last carbon boom from a guy in the Gorge, still in the plastic,
for $250, but that's pretty lucky, and a brand some avoid.

Do you ever check out the used gear on here? I saw Sailworks 7.5's in the used sail section. I suggest buying used top shelf gear rather than new low end things. Windance usually has some decent large booms. It's the smaller ones that get worn out in the Gorge.

I have bought and sold a fair amount of gear by watching the classifieds, and jumping on any deals. Also if you can get to a regatta somewhere (Dallas has a good club NTWR) There is usually some gear bartering going on. Not sure how much he wants for these booms or if they are still available.
