35 miles/hour = 30.4 Knots is fast, I actually doubt you can hit it consistently with a 240L board but maybe a little semi-random spurt of 2" can happen. 21-26 knots seems a more reasonable range, with 26 knots = 30 miles/hour a fast speed. But I think it would fell much faster on a Viper!!!! Shocked

On Slalom gear 29-32 knots are high but achievable averages even by non-pros with up to 34-36 knots max 2" in open waters. If you want to go faster you need really flat water.

Speed record is in the stratosphere: 53.27 knots = 61.3 miles/hour https://youtu.be/EG9L5em_0jw?t=45s

yes, it was a little bit tongue in cheek when i quoted my high-wind short board buddy saying longboards don't plane
.
some people still think longboards are light wind weapons - only
as you have stated and shown here - this is not the case
i too seem to stop using the longboard when winds go over 40 kph ~20 knots - actually make that 16 knots and so , lightwind weapon for me
and for me the shortboard planing does not feel like the longboard "gliding"
will need to compare both on same day i guess
usually too lazy or having too much fun to swap out
sorry for the deviation and congrats to rtz

in terms of longboarders...
here in Montreal there is me n my MEQ2 and sailboarder with his Kona
rest are all short boarders
and MANY kiters - some windsurfers starting to do both
one windsurf foil kit has been sold
