The OP wants an 8.0 and 6.3 board. The largest Cross is basically the same as his 116. |

jlooby,
Not sure you can improve on the firemove for conditions you describe. Possibly find a same volume board but a little narrower for your biggest board? You must be on the Michigan side or another Great Lake. Are you talking light SW or W. winds? I find a slight vee with a softened rail on a 130 liter free ride is like a cadillac ride in great lakes light wind chop. It doesn't turn or have the speed of a firemove, but moters over stuff like a 1976 air suspension lincoln continental. |

thought we were talking about chop
"2-5' tight waves"
for chop there has to be board features, adjustments, technique, etc
but for those waves - woah
ride the trough ? |

Thanks for the recommendations guys - appreciated.
I'll probably look for a Rocket 135 at some point and maybe wait for the reviews to come in on the Severne Fox 140.
I'm sailing on the Canadian side of Lake Huron - sail any onshore direction. It gets wavy / messy quick here and while the Firemove is a great board more in the 'waves' than the chop, I think the rocket might be more fun to sail in these conditions.
Regarding the foils - I'm waiting for the Naish foil (I plan to use it with a powerplate) looks like its designed for very light wind which is what I want.

I investigated the power plate for my power box board. Called the guy who is selling it and he said that it works fine and is not an issue with the power box fin. Then I called 3 different foil builders. They all said that they would not use that system on a power box fin board.....Who is right? I decided not to risk my new expensive board for foiling. Maybe in a few years most lite wind boards will come foil ready. |
