Does anyone have any experience buying demo boards?
Local shop has a good board around 15% off with cosmetic surface damage. Is that a reasonable deduction? |

Assuming you are talking about a 2017 board I would expect more of a discount than that. I would either go new or get a 2018 if that is the only savings to be had. What about the warranty? |

Local to new means good support.
15% is what would come off MSRP, it you smile and bat you eyes at the customer service rep.
30% would be a decent start, and you bat your eyes still them.
30% is a normal team ride or support off retail, not broken ior damaged. _________________ K4 fins

I've bought several current-year demo boards at the end of the season. I expect closer to half price, but then I live in an equipment orchard, where gear grows on trees. |

Bought a couple of demo JP's a few year's ago...
One ProSlalom84, another SS109. Both with dings that were fixed well, both spec weight and very solid, both with nose guards...which I promptly removed and tossed. |

Wow. 50% off.
Don't think I've ever seen an ex demo deal like that round here.
Even stock 3 years old on clearance orange reduced much. |

15% is not enough,
30% is starting to get interesting, but I also sail in the Gear Orchard.

Well, to point out the obvious....it is not the end of the season. It is smack in the high season for windsurfing, at least here in the PNW. This is when shops make their money........
Getting 50% off of a 2017 board is not in the cards for a couple of months anyway.

You can always get a job selling windsurf gear full time, then you get to buy 2018 boards in Oct. for less than half price.
Of course, delivery isn't until around April 2018. |
