If you spend most of your time at the Hatchery you will hear the refrain that windsurfing is dying. And beyond a doubt the number of sailors capable of sailing the Hatch is aging and slowly decreasing.

But if you spend even a day at The Hook or the new Waterfront Park you are struck by the sizable numbers of beginners learning to windsurf inside The Hook and the number of intermediates working on water starts or jibing from the launch site at the Waterfront Park.

Yesterday was a prime example as the photo below attests. And the second photo shows that there is another type of Gorge sailing action at the Marina that is worth considering if WA state never installs ADA compliant hand rails at the Hatch launches.
