Does anyone sell plugs for a Powerbox (center fin) hole or do I just need to find an old cheap Powerbox fin and cut it off.

On a related note, does anyone have an old/cheap/broken powerbox fin for sale or giveaway?

Finally, has anyone tried a short stubby fin in the center fin position in planing conditions? I am curious if it will help with schlogging in the lulls and getting onto a plane without making the board unwieldy when you are fully powered or planing through a jibe.

What kind of board are you talking about......

Every freestyler in the world uses a short stubby fin...and they all look like they are doing just fine.

I have a useless old powerbox fin that I would give you. I will through it in my fin bag.

Its a kids board (115 liters) with a center fin in place of a centerboard.
I would be filling the box near the mast track not in the center of the tail of the board.

Keith - Where are you located?

The CGWA has crates of them at every swap meet. Good fins run $5 or less; maybe they'd pay you to take a bad one off their hands. Smile

Never seen a powerbox plug sold.

I think I would make one of Wood, apply a water marine coating.

That only if I felt compelled to do so, for some reason I don't have now

for the time being, I stuffed some Styrofoam in the box and covered it with sail repair tape - worked pretty well for today's session.

i have made a number of slot box plugs out of PVC (moulding from hoe depot)..i think a powerbox should be not too hard....afterall you don't have to match the exact shape...just the depth near the screw...and flush with the bottom of board...it is very easy to cut shape...sand or file
