What’s the purpose of this Velcro opening at the top of the mast sleeve?

That’s a clever boom cutout the way it seals shut and leaves no air gap. Or maybe other sails have that too? First I’ve seen of it. That’s got to be worth something in power or efficiency?

And in case anyone missed it. Cheap, cheap sails and free 2 day shipping from Hawaii!

Get the sizes you don’t have or try out a new type of sail or some size you always wondered about:

Also helps keep the sand/mud out if you stick it.

Nice to be able to access the head cap to poke a stubborn mast cap out of the sail.
Maybe you can snake beside the "cap", poke thru the top and be able to use a longer than recommended mast?
I hardly ever use my 6.0 Scream, and it's buried under 11 sails inside the van right now.

The Velcro allows you access to properly seat the head cap plug that is critical to good sail tension and rotation. It also helps access the plug if it gets jammed when trying to derig.

I felt around in there and found no plug. Just a non adjustable piece of webbing.

Some sails have a plug connected to the webbing at the tip of the sail, which plugs into a cap on the mast that has a receptacle for the plug.

Lots of sails just have a mast tip plug that slides up against the webbing in the sail, like yours.
