In some respects I'd say yes definitely, it was however the politicians of many countries that put an end to whale killing, and for that I'm grateful. But it doesn't stop there, whales are very good at capturing carbon dioxide, no carbon credits or carbon buybacks needed, sorry Al.

A fine video, and conservation of nature is great. (And to be sure, not a noticeable priority for Republicans. If anything they appear to be out to destroy rather than protect.)
But whales being able to affect global warming from burning fossil fuels seems unbelievable, and is not supported by the numbers, as far as I can tell.
From the video, "It seems that [whales] might have been responsible for removing 10s of millions of tons of carbon from the atmosphere every year. Whales change the climate."
Acc. to wikipedia, emission of CO2 by human activity is about 36 billion tons per year.
Let's say the video means at max 100 million tons of carbon per year removed by whales, equals about 367 million tons of CO2, or 1% of human emission. Too insignificant to reduce global warming. |

Right now Trump has to be more worried about nuclear winter than global warming |

LHDR, a couple of things, you really shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, this carbon capture is free, as in, our economy doesn't have to pay for it. Also both ends of those equation numbers are very hard to achieve accurately. But I find that irrelevant anyway, this is just one other example of nature helping if we just stay out of the way.
And~
"not a noticeable priority for Republicans. If anything they appear to be out to destroy rather than protect.", you're sounding just like mac.
Don't forget the other things on the destroy list, air, water, food, animals, humans, especially if they're minorities.
mac has said republicans don't like to recycle, on that he's correct, we blend all our garbage and recyclables together, no sorting at all. When both bins are full we like to drive them down to the ocean after dark, and dump them in the water. High tide is the easiest, and the fish love it! We also take advantage of being at the beach at dark so we also empty out our ashtrays, and toss away that last beer bottle. It's fun, you should join us some night. |
