Been riding strapless on a SS Dialer. Not using footsteps for two reasons:
Overfoiling crashes are a bitch. If you couldn't get your foot out it would be extra painful.
If seems like there are multiple positions for the front foot. Being limited to one spot would be harder.
Are the performance gains with footstraps worth it ?

Yes. When I was in the earliest stages of learning, I took the rear straps off my board (Formula)--for quick exit--and figured out where they should go. Eventually, you have more control in both straps, but you want to be able (and know when) to get out of the straps and bail.

Try the foot hooks from NSI.
You can buy them at Second Wind, Windance, or direct from NSI next to NYC sub shop in HR.
