It might explode, or you might get another ten years out of it... No way to know until you try. Or you could just preemptively reinforce the box and let your mind relax a bit.

Naish's new Thrust Windsurf Foil has a regular tuttle adapter, which has a flange built in to it, so that should help protect the box a bit. (The flange will keep the foil from pushing too deep into the fin box, and therefore keep a bit of pressure off of the fin box's walls so that it won't explode from the inside out).

Another option that some people are using is to install two US boxes just a bit forward of the power or tuttle box that is already in your board. This will allow you to use your regular fins on the board, and then when you want to foil, you just use a foil with a "pedestal" style plate on top. Both Slingshot and Naish's Aluminum windsurf foils have this option. The only bummer about this is that it definitely adds some weight and drag to the board for when you want to use it in regular windsurf mode. Check out Naish's Titan Crossover for an example of how to lay out the boxes:

LeeD- Why foil in 10-20? Because it's FUN! To each his own...

I have been using the LP foil with the regular Tuttle base (and flange) in an old Starboard Carve (no extra reinforcement) for about 30 sessions with no issues.
(Your results may vary)
I did get some larger fender washers for the top of the fin bolts to help spread the load on the deck. The built in flange (lip) on the LP base seems to help a lot in distributing the loads over the bottom of the board.

Everywhere locally is charging $400 < for a new foil box install.

I'm running a Slingshot on a standard DT for a few months. Don't see any problems so far.
