Hi,

I ordered a Goya Nexus 6.9 sail and know that the luff length on it is 469. The mast I have is a RDM 460 and I use a US cup base (now regretting not getting Euro Pin).

My question is where to find a skinny extension that will accommodate my luff length of 469. I believe the minimum setting on a Chinook aluminum skinny extension is 12cm. I didn't know how bad of an idea it would be to put a little less downhaul on and use that on the minimum setting.

Thanks,
Ryan

Use any extension set at the bottom. 3 cm is just over 1 inch, and u cant tell the diff. Certainly wont matter to you.

The Streamlined Featherline Carbon RDM Extension for US Cup has a minimum setting of 6cm

Thanks for the replies!

Ideally if I could make the Chinook aluminum mast work I would go with that, as long as it doesn't cause any major performance issues or pose a threat of damage to the mast or other equipment. I'm on a budget and can buy the Chinook extension for about half the price of the Streamlined.

Chinook aluminum RDM skinny US cup goes shorter than 12 cm (at least mine does). You can see in their catalogue that the MAXIMUM extension for their short RDM extension is 12 cm, and there are at least 2 adjustment holes; thus at least down to 10cm.

Plus your sail will stretch at least that much after 10 or 12 riggings.

Min is 8cm on Chinook skinny. Removing the clip can go down to 6 but I heard it can split the mast.

Do not remove the collar and set the mast all the way down. You will break your mast

I got a used mast with an extension stuck collarless inside. Needed a 432 with a 430 mast so used it like that without issues. For a long time. I was lucky. I actually broke the top part of the mast being dragged along onto the reef.
