Any one know about westside LA (Playa Del Rey - Santa Monica) launches for prefrontal or clearing winds? I am familiar with the typical thermal spots but looking for a place close to work to poach a session if Friday afternoon prefontals of Saturday clearing winds come.

Try Sunset Point just south of Sunset Blvd. Launch just south of Gladstones.

Mostly, clearing winds very onshore, and with some swell, you're heading outside of Manhattan, so no surfsailing.

At all the west facing South Bay beaches clearing winds are straight onshore. If there is any kind of swell, or a stout close frequency windswell, it's virtually impossible to get off the beach. Kiters, on the other hand, find it quite a bit easier to get out, and they can run up and down the beach parallel to the shoreline. Often I've seen them at the most southerly end of Torrance Beach.

Bring a fsw type board and it works great at Gladstones or OBSF.
