Hi -

I am in Maui for a week, and given the light wind forecast I brought my foil with me. I would love to hear if anyone has any experience foiling here? I am staying in Kihei, so launches in or close to Kihei would be preferred. The challenge being the water depth (for a 3ft mast).

I've seen people foil at Ohukai in Kihei, so that's where I was planning to go. And satellite maps suggest that going a bit North towards Sugar Beach may be better with depth. And with Kona winds, which are in the forecast, the wind should be about the same as at Ohukai.

I'll post back with my experience. I found very little information online and from some people I spoke with here. I guess my best bet is to run into the foilers and talk with them.

Thanks!

yes, Ohukai would be best especially given the current conditions. the reef about 1/8 mile out might be a problem at very low tide. should be otherfoilers there and kanaha.

I follow this guys blog from Maui - discusses foiling a lot and he gives foiling lessons. Works at Hi-Tech sports.

Kanaha works great for foiling

Hey Michael I'll be on Maui Sunday afternoon indeed the forecast looks dismal but I am also wondering where people can foil safely. at kanaha in between weird wave and lowers there is a channel but it has to be blowing northeast
Please do keep us posted
