With an adjustable mast track; is there any situation where I would want or need it all the way forward or all the way back? I just run it in the middle. I have tried the extremes some. All the way back it did seem to make the board more lively. I don't really remember how it was all the way forward.
Is there a setting that would help the board plane easier or quicker? Could I hold down more sail or an overpowered condition easier with it all the way forward?
Do you just run all your boards in the middle or? |

I would say it depends on several things and you're just going to have to try it to see what works for you. We had one board that didn't work right at any track position? |

I assume you are on a board with a centerboard? |

The big 240L Viper for now until I learn to water start so I can get a smaller board. I can stay and get upwind without the dagger. It's nice in really light conditions though.

Upwind=centerboard down and track forward. Downwind track center until planing, back if planing. |

Also unless you weigh +250lbs chances are at least your next two boards will be capable of being up hauled. |

I would add to grant's post that if planing and in the foot straps with good speed, then the mast can be all the way back. If you can't get in the foot straps, then maybe it's better to have the mast in the center. |
