Translation: I like taking advantage of the cheap labor that illegals provide, so I can get richer while taking advantage of their hard work for cheap rates. They're the next best thing to slaves (except we pay them...wink, wink)

There is nothing we can do about morons that search out sites like this and fail to pay any attention to scientific studies. Nothing., there is no hope for people like that. Be glad they are no longer teaching children.
Back to the claim that people are leaving California "in a flood." Nonsens. California's population has steadily increased since I came here in the early 1960's. Readily available data https://journal.firsttuesday.us/golden-state-population-trends/9007/ shows an increase in population from about 23 million in 1980 to about 40 million now. The annual rate of growth has dropped from about 2.5% to about 0.8%.
The states losing population are generally small states losing small numbers--Wyoming, Connecticut, Alaska. One might ask why. The United States has steadily become more urbanized, while maintaining a myth that the ideal situation is a rural place to live. In 1790, only 5% of the population lived in urban areas, by 2010 it had reached 81%.

Disagree with both of you guys. The State is growing like a weed. We need employment desperately in many industries. Immigrants provide us with the demand. Why don't you go take an ECON 101 class, and pay close attention to supply , and demand...the basic tenets of capitalism.
Matty, your economic analysis is similar to the argument the lefty politicians in NY were making when they nixed the Amazon deal....

Listening to you guys whine about California is pathetic, especially coming from east coasters 2500 miles away. It must be trying for you guys to know that a great state like California even exists.
I have to laugh that mat-ty's source for the country's illegal immigration problems comes from an opinion piece in the Bluefield Daily Telegraph out of Bluefield, West Virginia. |
