To repeatedly quote predictions that could only possibly come to fruition if we did absolutely nothing is ridiculous. We would never do nothing so the predictions are worthless. To also take a few weeks of incomplete data and extrapolate in a straight line to estimate alarming US death numbers is simplistic and ridiculous. And then when the actual data comes in nowhere close to those predictions, to take cover and say, it wasn't me, it was someone else that made those projections.......I just repeatedly passed along that hopelessly flawed and inaccurate information while adding comments like "how is that anti science thing going for you GOP voters" and "the tsunami is coming"..........is laughable.

We will never know whether the measures taken were worth the cost........it's impossible to credibly quantify. However, what we do know with complete certainty is that many of the estimates gleefully touted on this forum were wildly overstated and had no basis in sensible analysis.

It may make you feel better to cast me as stupid. I assure you I am not.

Coachg, It is pointless continuing to debate the issue with you. Your mind is made up.

And yours isn't? Perhaps someone else has an uncompromising attitude? Yup, very thick indeed.

Except here is my quote.

They have learned from their mistakes & no longer fly Nazi flags nor have Hitler or Goebbels statues plastered all over the country; and instead of having laws protecting such flags & statues, they have laws preventing them.

I acknowledged what they did. The Germans acknowledge what they did. Very interesting that you continue to not acknowledge that many of the southern states continue to portray confederate flags & statues. Not surprising, but interesting.

I will point out that recent events appear to be changing things so I may be withdrawing my statement about ignorance

Which is an acknowledgement of progress which is improving even faster recently. May I point out that "huge" is a relative term. In how far the south has come from George Stinney Jr., yes there has been a "huge" improvement. But looking at how many protests are tearing down confederate monuments & statues recently there was obviously room for another "huge" improvement.

We are back to your illiteracy again. Prefer; better than another, tend to choose.
My Aunt lives in Lawton, OK & my daughter in Austin, TX. I have been making the trip down there twice a year now for quite a while now. Driving, flying & a combination of both for the 4,000 mile round trip. So you see, the word prefer does not imply never. When driving I always take a different route. So many small towns but we follow a simple policy. If we see confederate flags in windows of homes, stores or vehicles we do not stop.

Oh look, the goalposts moved again. I’m not assured. I think mrgybe failed human relations, and clearly never read “how to win friends and influence people.”

But then concern for public health has never been high on gybe’s values. He preferred to belittle people who bought toilet paper.

Mrgybe. I do not believe you to be stupid. But, you are quite sarcastic and condescending. You, constantly, brag of your "superior" education. When you make a comparison such as you did comparing the wind to a response to a pandemic, regardless of the sarcasm, you get what you deserve in return.

I find your characterization that anyone on this forum gleefully touted high numbers for the potential carnage of this pandemic very insulting. Maybe the most insulting comment I've read on this forum. This from a man who claims to be above the fray then accuses others here that we were hoping for more dead Americans.

The dangers of this pandemic are far from over. Rather than accuse others of wanting to see the death toll higher, it might be more productive to support efforts to minimize that death toll.

Like wearing masks? Mrgybe is an insecure guy who only wants to score points. He has pissed in the ear of everyone on the forum to the left of Attila the hun.

Coachg's new version of what he said to absolve him from prejudice.........

What he actually said........

Clearly he believes that the majority in the South are not intelligent and are racist. Entirely consistent with his original, offensive post......."shows just how ignorant they are down there.". Prejudice. Even an illiterate can't mistake that.

If I were to poll the entire population of the south , is it conceivable that 51% of the adult population is not that intelligent, and racist --for the most part?
Abso_______lutely! It take the over on that one without hesitation.

You seem to have a problem with exaggeration.

If you had read the daily recitation of the death toll with the associated comments of how it's all Trump's fault.........and didn't detect the hope the numbers would go higher to "prove" his predictions and comments were accurate, you are naive.

There is a difference between prejudice and forming opinions based on evidence. Those who pay no attention to evidence are ignorant of that.
