Mike,

I'm curious as to why the written Daily Briefing predictions aren't reflected in the colored graphics right below them (see graphics screenshot below)?

"Now at 11:30 AM This is forecast hinges on the enlarged eddy note in the Special Update below NOT shrinking. Giving that assumption I am upping the Pt. Isabel winds for mid to upper-teens inside and upper-teens to low 20's near Brook's Island. For the same reason downgrading the winds INSIDE at 3rd. and suggesting weaker winds inside for Crissy with stronger winds towards the north tower. Otherwise the forecast is intact."

Is this a matter of timing of data input/output, or some other process?

Thanks, David

Hi windsrf.

The short answer is that I screwed up the tables for Berkeley and Pt. Isabel. And anytime the tables do not jive with the tables go with the TEXT forecast.

The long answer is that to fill in all the tables for high and low wind and direction for each time slot and for each site take 336 individual data entries.

Since that would take a long time we have the models fill in a rough forecast for each of the 336 data points. Then we manually correct the most important data points based upon other variables like satellite and cam imagery etc. Sometimes those are minor corrections and sometimes they are huge corrections.

It is easy to screw up and skip some of the 336 table entries especially if the wind at my local site is already 4.2. More rarely the table problem is a software issue.

So if ever the text and the tables do not jive go with the TEXT! Since it is always totally done by hand. And like the wind graphs for Pt. Isabel and Berkeley show at 3:30PM today the text is more often right.

Sorry for the confusion.

Mike

Mike,

Thanks for explanation.

Enjoyed Pt. Isabel myself today.

Cheers, David
