By hook or crook. You remember how the GOP denied President Obama's Supreme Court Justice appointment? Short memory, and certainly one sided and prejudiced.
I know you have to purchase your insurance on the open market Malibu. You better pray that you don't ever have a pre-existing condition when this Supreme Court has its way and your insurance gets cancelled.
That's not even a Conservative vs Liberal viewpoint. It's a fairness viewpoint. Someone who has given an insurance company $250k over the years should not be denied coverage when they become ill as it was the case prior to the ACA.
I might add to Techno's difference between liberals and conservatives (if I were inclined to generalize). Liberals do math, Conservatives don't. |

California comes in at number 49 only behind DC and Hawaii. You can be rich in California and still be poor by comparison.

funny one could use that argument with the poorest nations in the world....
amazing how the right wing wants is to be a banana republic basically like a Putins world. _________________ when good people stay silent the right wing are the only ones heard. |

And yet the democrats seem to be trying to move in the direction of socialism, a form of government that has no knowledge of math or economics.
As Thatcher so eloquently said "The trouble with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."
So basic, so true.

Would it be any different if the shoe was on the other foot at that time, meaning a Republican President and a Democrat congress?
The big factor was that there was going to be new President in 8 months when Obama made his selection, which was a little different than the current situation.
It looks like the divisiveness isn't going away anytime soon, so to get anything done, congress seems to be the answer, and even that is not a sure thing. |

Socialism runs the gamut from government running the entire show to something like the US where social security, Medicare, SNAP, welfare, etc. are there to meet the needs of those that are unable or unwilling to take care of themselves.
I think we all see a need for some level of socialism, but the issue is how far do some on the left want it to go? Conservatives already see too much government dependency and are concerned about a sinking ship with too much government involvement. Hard to imagine, but nevertheless a concern. Obama Care was a red flag for conservatives, even though some elements of the program seem reasonable. The implemention process tossed a pile of crap on the concept and forever shut the door with the right. |

techno900, are you actually trying to rationalize away the "clearly one sided and prejudiced" action that Senate McConnell took to deny Merrick Garland fair consideration?
I have to ask, do you think it was appropriate for McConnell to change Senate rules and go against precedent in the consideration of Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court?
Please don't bring up Harry Reid's rule change regarding lower court nominees, particularly given McConnell's extended wholesale obstruction of the accepted approval process. All one needs to do to see McConnell's blatant hypocrisy is contrast is earlier opinion about Reid's action with his instant and far more reaching rule change without any real obstruction from the Democrats. |

When you guys are in charge again, you can change the rules, much like Obama did with his Executive orders.
Overall, it's all a bunch of BS and I wish it wasn't the way it is. I would like to see common goals among congress and a willingness to work together, but it seems to be heading in the opposite direction.
Term limits...………... |

You have to remember that the ACA was patterned off a right wing Heritage Foundation proposal that was supported by Republicans back in the early 90s. I thinking that you must have forgot that important fact when drafting your statement above. |
