|
|
I am getting a big Freeride board with a (reinforced) Deep Tuttle box, reed foilbox. The dimensions of the board would be 255x80 @ 145-150L, I weigh 80kg.
For my 7.8 I am advised to use a 46cm fin and for my 6.6 a 38cm fin.
I already have a 38cm MFC Liquid Pro fin, but with Powerbox head.
I had a quick look online and see that there exist adapters that will make it fit in the Deep Tuttle box, but I am unsure if these are DIY projects or if I can get them somewhere. Are they valid and is it worth it?
For my 7.8 I was thinking to get a dedicated Deep Tuttle fin. The board manufacture (Flikka) can make a fin in full G10, also the base.
They are a bit more expensive than other fin companies like for example Select Fins with the POWER EDGE. Could this be a good fin?
If the power -> deep tuttle adapter is not a good idea from Select Fins I was looking at the EDGE FREESLAM
What do you say?
Any other fin companies that are worth looking at without spending +150€ per fin? |

What’s the volume of the board ?
I think those sizes are large for the sails, 7.8= 42cm 6.6= 36cm. Math doesnt work when doing this, many variables.
BAD idea on a adapter.

Board size & volume is listed. Fin size sounds fine for an 80 cm wide board. There is no fixed formula for fin sizes to sails across all boards. 7.8 would be a 36-38 on my 110 & could be 44-48 on my 145.
2nd the no to the adapter.

i have used a 56 cm fin on a 92 cm wide JP SLW with an 8 meter sail
believe fin versus board width makes the most sense
here is an old sample from Select Fins
(fin length is only part of the equation)
nay nay to the adapter engine |
