This, I know is true:

1. The Gorge is glassy calm during heat waves.
2. At the end of a heat wave cool stable marine layer clouds flood the corridor from the ocean.
3. Then very strong usable winds blow from the corridor towards Roos.
4. The strong winds last for 2-3 days.

But... not yesterday!

"Times they are achanging". ― Bob Dylan

“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” ― Søren Kierkegaard

So here is a blog autopsy of Benjamin's forecast for yesterday which normally would have been a spot on post heatwave forecast.

Of course, as Kierkegaard said, I have the huge advantage of 20/20 hindsight and the actual wind graphs for yesterday which Ben lacked at 5:45 AM Saturday morning.

Everyone is right....wall was retarded, 5-50 and when we left, the US flag at the grain elevators was perpendicular to the hwy. HOWEVER, a little shout out - go Canada go - three of us Canucks actually had a blast for an hour or two surviving while everyone else more intelligently left. (even tho CDN, we live here June-Sep, so are a little US). Then we went to Rowena and for the first time in 10 years, we had amazing solid 3.7 wind with fun Dougs west swell. We can't explain that either.
