It is almost impossible to keep up with the tin foil hat conspiracy theories--unless you subscribe to Trump tweets (which are just regurgitated Sean Hannity) or Alex Jones. But fortunately, we still have journalists in this country.

From the latter:

Quote:
But according to Rosenstein, Ohr has never worked on the Mueller investigation or the 2016 surveillance of Carter Page, the Trump foreign policy adviser. Even the Nunes memo doesn’t imply that Ohr knew anything about surveillance applications or any of the other fine-grain pieces of the investigation itself.

As my colleague Andrew Prokop wrote in February:

The memo reveals that Steele was in contact with Ohr and that in September 2016, Steele shared some of his negative opinions on Trump. ... Yet note what the memo does not claim: that Ohr had anything to do with the surveillance application on Carter Page. Yes, it tries to imply that, by saying Ohr “worked closely with Deputy Attorneys General Yates and later Rosenstein,” who were previously mentioned as approving the wiretap. ... But Yates and then Rosenstein were top justice officials overseeing basically everything in the department. Ohr was a subordinate of theirs, but his actual job was as the “Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces Director.” If he was involved in the Page wiretap specifically, Nunes sure doesn’t provide the evidence to show that.

Now a few facts, by the numbers. These facts were elided by Nunes, a scumbag who has been defending Trump with lies and elisions.

1. Steele had been used by the FBI as an Intel source on Russia, and I believe on the mob, since at least 2002. This is the time that Russian mobsters were developing ways to get the money they had looted from the collapse of the SSR out of Russia. He was reasonably reliable, and used because he was a former M-16 agent.

2. George Papadopoulos and Carter Page were on the FBI's radar. Papadopoulos because he had bragged that Russia had dirt on Hillary and Carter Page because it seemed that he was being recruited by Russian spies--and was too dumb to notice. At the time, the FBI knew nothing of the Steele dossier because:

3. The Steele dossier was started when the Free Beacon, funded in large part by the New York hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer, hired the firm, Fusion GPS, in 2015 to unearth damaging information about several Republican presidential candidates." from https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/27/us/politics/trump-dossier-paul-singer.html

The Free Beacon stopped paying for Fusion GPS in May 2016. By that time, and by the time the Hillary campaign took over the dossier, the deep ties of Carter Page and Manafort to Russia, and the bragging of Papadopoulos were all known to the FBI. Sometime in 2016, Steele contacted the FBI because he was concerned that Trump might be compromised by the Russian government. That was the result of his discomfort, not any paid op research by the FBI.

It has always been about the money, and hiding the tracks--and at least in Manafort's case, cheating on your taxes. Put it into perspective--Manafort was paid over $60 million that we know about to advise on the Ukraine. What financial gain was made that justified that as a payment? $600 million? More? Trump made over $100 million in cash payments selling real estate to dodgy Russians. And Ohr was the expert on Russian crime and the Russian mafia. Is it any surprise that Trump and his stooges want to make it impossible to investigate white collar crime?

Standard response by a troll when their nonsense is refuted by facts. Do you feel better now?

These media sources are moderately to strongly biased toward liberal causes through story selection and/or political affiliation. They may utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports and omit reporting of information that may damage liberal causes. Some sources in this category may be untrustworthy. See all Left Bias sources.

too funny, the Candian trying to influence american politics forgot to list a few details to his post...

Overall, we rate Vox Left Biased due to wording and story selection that favors the left and highly factual based on proper sourcing. (5/15/2016) Updated (M. Huitsing 6/16/2018)

Can’t have factual reporting when we want to keep members of the Trump crime family out of jail.

Pretty much all of NW’s claims about the FBI and Hillary have been shown to be untrue—if one is to rely on factual reporting, not Hannity.

“So all the times you cited anonymous sources about Obama were fiction?”

President Donald Trump’s attempt at making a public service announcement about “fake news” backfired to many Twitter users on Wednesday morning.

Trump on Twitter urged people to “stop reading the story” if “anonymous sources” were cited by a news organization. He also claimed “many anonymous sources don’t even exist” in two tweets in which he again ranted about CNN and called the network the “enemy of the people.”
