anyone have an ION harness with the C_bar ? i think they came out on the 2018 models and on the 2019.
I like the fact there is a buckle to make that final tightening of the bar.
it sounds easy to adjust the straps on a typical harness (i have a 2017 ion harness)...but in reality..it's a Pain in the behind. I am always changind b/c of wearing different layers under my drysuit...or just simply swithc b/w varying westuits.
I like the idea of the C-bar adjustment...and it looks like if i get just the bar, i think it will work with my harness.... |

Not sure it'd help much as you'd still need to adjust tension depending on gear you wear and food you ate.
My ion Radium bar cracked after a year of use.
I like the Dakine thermoform, super light, stiff, can adjust easily to various settings (helps to remember somehow, would be nice to have markings on the strap).
One thing I tend to do on all harnesses is to not tighten the first elastic band, but over tighten the bar strap. _________________ *NEW* - Manu's Windsurfing Blog, The STORE! |

Looks great ... except that it has no roller. That renders it unacceptable to me. |

i guess after all these years i am still looking for that "perfect" harness. You would think adjusting the straps woudl be easy. but when your harness gets salt water on it...then dries...the salt solidifes on the traps...and well...you get the idea. Same reason i gave up on adjustable harness lines. (yeah try adjusting after a few months sitting in you garage...)
i hope someone would make a harness where you can adjust with some straps as more of a one time thing...or every once in awhile...and a buckle or rachet type thing (think ski boot...or heck my bike shoes have it) ... |

I'd definitely be into a snowboard binding ratchet kind of adjuster provided spares are easily found and replaced. |

NP used to have the "automatic" spreader bar system which featured ratchet style male straps. They didn't actually have ratchet buckles... you just had to push the two sides together. The plastic straps broke all the time, and so did the metal parts that were welded to the spreader bar. Also, the ratchet locks always seemed to have sharp corners that needed to be covered. The covers would inevitably wear through, and you'd slice a nice hole in your sail if you fell into it. _________________ Kevin Kan

I'm using an ION harness with the C-Bar now. The tightening function is more of a cam, so you only do a final tightening by flipping the closure. Think of it like a quick release closure on a bicycle wheel. It's easy to use, but it doesn't provide the adjustment function i think for which you are looking. _________________ Kevin Kan
