I'd assume the agitator would damage or even tear up wetsuits. Probably less threat with booties.
My neoprene looks and smells new inside and out (which probably implies it's also fairly free of bacteria and fungus) for many years. |

Enzymatic cleaner is the only stuff you want as it actually destroys what causes the stink. The key is to buy one specifically for wetsuits to avoid any chemicals that will interact with the glue, tape or neoprene. More importantly, wetsuit enzyme cleaner rinses cleanly, leaving no residue to attack your skin subsequently. _________________ Support Your Sport. Join US Windsurfing!

Try DOG shampoo! I've had very good success cleaning stinky boots with this. It's mild, meant to deodorize, inexpensive, and easy to find.
In fact, I use it to clean wetsuits every 3 or 4 sessions and especially before hanging them up for the winter.
Put a little in each boot and fill up to the opening with warm water. Shake around a bit. Let it soak while your rinse the rest of your gear. Dump the sudsy water and rinse. Put somewhere to dry. If your boots have a long ankle it is good to bend the ankle part backwards so more airflow can get in to the boots while they dry. |

Be very careful with DIY solutions. Many soaps attack the glue in wetsuits, and most do not refresh and renew the neoprene.
A gallon bottle of the real thing will last most people a lifetime and costs less than a restaurant breakfast for two. |
