Anybody know what vario head means on the specifications for the lift?

It means there is an adjustable strap on the head of the sail so it can accept a longer mast by letting the excess out of the top.

OK makes sense, thanks. Only needed if you dont have the correct mast?

Seems like a method of doing the top of the sail. Also seems like one could run more or less extension using the system:

Exactly rtz, useful when extension is set really low around 6 or so.
