Along with the Pt. Isabel Sensor!

May be the same "3G" problem with upgrade needed?

That's what I was told by iWind staff re PI sensor anyway.

Hi Gang,

The Coyote sensor failed during an attempted robbery on the shop where it is located. The would-be thieves cut our sensor cable during their attempt. A repair of this sensor is in our queue. We will fly someone in to do the repair as soon as they are finished with other repairs.

In the meantime this sensor is useful for Coyote:

So far no word about what failed at the Pt. Isabel sensor. It would help is one of the local sailors checked out the sensor with binoculars.

Sigh... our old sensor technology, below, was much more reliable.

Mike,

Following your suggestion, yesterday after an excellent session at Berkeley I drove over to PI and examined the iWind sensor there in the radio station compound where we managed to get it relocated a couple of years ago.

I will send you photos via direct email, but sensor head appeared to be functioning well with propeller spinning nicely and sensor head pivoting with wind direction changes (slight).

However, I remain concerned due to the different comments/evaluations I've received. About two weeks ago William Gidley told me via iWind Customer Support chat: "Most likely needs to be upgraded to a 4g modem". That is quite different situation from "sensor damage" - isn't there a better way to analyze this situation?

Meanwhile, I just noticed that the Berkeley Reef/Racetrack sensor is back functioning. That helps evaluate East Bay wind in the Pt. Isabel area at least.

Main concern is that our SF Bay season is starting and many are definitely looking forward to using the new PI launch facilities. Shame to have that sensor non-functional now.

Perhaps you can encourage whoever is due out to fix the Coyote Sensor to also upgrade/fix the PI sensor? I note that the latest "word" on Coyote is dated 3/12: "We are aware CP has lost its sensor" - but as you indicate it isn't lost, merely cut off.

Thanks, David
