since you asked ...

on my JP SLW92 I use a Select 66cm fin with the 10 m² sails
with the 8.x sails I use a Curtis 56 cm fin
as yet I have NOT used a 7.x meter sail on that board.

even with the 8.x sails I prefer the 80 cm wide board
or even the Mistral Equipe 2

if i was to use a 7 meter sail on the 92 cm wide board
let's extrapulate
10 - 66
8.5 - 56
7.3 - ~48 cm fin

but I do NOT have any tuttle or deep tuttle 48 cm fins
could try my 44 cm slalom fin
something for me to try this summer ...

typically here in the 7.x meter conditions you want a narrower board !!
remembering that i am the average joe windsurfer who is 100+ kilos

Thanks for the response guys. I will be abandoning the idea due to effort involved and lack of confidence that it will work out. On a positive note, I think I have the fin size I need narrowed down to a 14 centimeter range!

Good idea to abandon the fin-cutting idea.

Between the 62 curtis and 56 drake on the free formula, and the 44 on the freerace board, you have plenty of better options for pushing for speed with the 7.3 sail.

Putting in lots of time on the water and getting the feel for your different board and fin combinations should help. Sometimes something might feel a bit awkward at first, but then when you adjust your style to it, or when the conditions are a bit different, it can be fast.
