The outer film is separating completely from the inner layer. Is this a known issue and normal with this type of material?

I have seen it on North sails too. Also common on very old sails that had two types of materials (fabric+plastic) glued together. I wouldn't worry about it and sail it hard! _________________ *NEW* - Manu's Windsurfing Blog, The STORE! |

With used sails from a tropical climate, you kind of got to accept the result. The prices aren't really that out of line. Check full retail pricing. |

Getting back to the original question- delam of x-ply type materials was quite common on sails made during the 80’s and into the 90’s. Manufacturing processes have improved since then, and a sail as new as yours should not be delaminating. All of my sails (some of which date back to the late 90’s) have some amount of x-ply in their construction and none of them show signs of delam that I’m aware of. In my opinion, with modern sails, this is not a normal issue.

1. NP
2. Rental, probably
3. Bargain price, for a reason
4. Left rigged, in the sun a lot
5. For a personal sail it’s nor normal.
6. Will the seller address its condition?

I think they have priced the gear appropriately for their history. If I needed a sail I'd consider buying one of those sails knowing their history. |
