Awesome vid! I hope we see some more to monitor progress. Here are my tips.

1. Try jibes when fresh. About a handful of good attempts are sufficient each day. When getting sloppy/tired, stop and free sail.

2. Try to get as many sessions on the water as possible. Each time out will add to muscle memory.

3. Speed up and move your back hand back. Head downwind over the flattest water you can find.

4. Focus to improve control over gear when stepping out of back strap unhooked. Get low.

5. Place your back foot way on the other side of the board, and lean on it with all of your weight while sheeting in than rapidly out! Want the sail to feel weightless through the motion.

6. Switch your feet and flip the sail (this will require lots of practice)

The faster you go, the more stable the board.

Play with variations. Try to rake the sail way back, lay it down, extend your front arm, use sweeping motions, etc.

The more you play with the sail, the more you'll store data about how the angle of the sail affects power and drive over the board.

Jibing is a balancing act where both feet and hands are switched. A transition, that's why it takes more time to master.

Great initiative, looking forward to your quest!

My 2 cents here, watched your video, be more aggressive in the sail flip. Per Mike F.'s tutorial from years ago (Thanks Mike) I learned to literally throw the sail around the mast, no hands, it spins back to you. Turn the board aggressively, lean forward and throw the sail! Of course, typing this makes it seem easier than it was... Very Happy

Now, that had me laughing out loud!

Then you may appreciate my engineering school dean's question of me: How do you conjugate your name?

My brother's math teacher was German. He called attendance each day thusly: Mr Adams ... Ms Baker ... Mr Davis ... Terry ... Ms Harmon ...

He explained that he couldn't bring himself to say "Mr. Fick" out loud.

I lived in Huntsville, AL during the space race and at White Sands, NM years later. Both were heavily populated with WW II German rocket scientists "rescued" from Russian occupation of Peenemunde, Hitler's V2 buzz bomb R&D center. Their reaction when meeting me at work or when I was dating their daughters ranged from embarrassment to laughter.

I considered changing my name, but saw no advantage in being called "Sam" rather than "Mike".

I watched your video and agree with your instructor, hanging from the boom to begin the setup/entry.

This is what I like about the Dasher 12 step video. He spends a lot of time on setup. Work on your setup and entry.
