The wind here in Colorado has been the best in decades, oh sorry I misread Cape Cod for Colorado. Never mind.

Maybe the wind was reading this forum. Whatever it was, it came in typical summer fashion today - models predicted WSW 19 mph, so we got 30+ mph. Even the usual half-hour dip in the middle was present.
The "expert" forecast completely missed it, though. Maybe that's why there were only a handful of windsurfers and a couple of kiters out at Kalmus today.

Yup, mother nature got mad at me, I dissed her ! Never ever do that to a Lady,
So I missed it. But looks good for today and maybe a few days in a row. I'm sorry, been put in my place !

I agree in general. But if your complaints bring the wind, by all means complain when its light for a few days!

| All the forecasts botched it here today in SW CT as well... called for ~10 knots, and it was 15-20 all afternoon with gusts over 20... I noticed the forecast revised itself after 6pm to compensate for their miss! Aside from a week in Hatteras, Ive only been out a few times this spring...there have been only a handful of SW days here..alot more gusty NW...the weather different/ off in my opinion...

| Same here at Berkeley. Every weather prediction " low to mid teens"...so I'm way powered on 86 liters and 5.2. At at 160lbs.

| Its all been downhill since aug 1988. High pressure ruled the month. I believe 17 days over 30mph. 10to15 forecast every day. Jp

I have heard these stories many times, but never seen anything like it in the last 8 years. After getting wind in the 20s every day for 7 days in a row now, I started to believe them.
But I just had to go back and look at the meter readings for August 1988. According to the archives, there were 6 or 7 days with wind over 30 mph, and about 11 days with wind over 20 mph for more than one hour during the day.
This year, we have had 7 days with wind above 20 (and often above 25) already, and the month is not even half over. Enough wind to stay off the water today because a bit of rain threatened. The forecast has not changed much, either - it was in the mid-teens most days.

| I can't argue with the Iwindsurf data, although none of us had any money to spend on wind services back then. We had Greg's Auger's meter and eventually "Debbie". Good to the thermals doing their thing.
