Yo Wind Junkies! Anybody find a good quiver bag for rooftop travel? I'm simply looking for a bag that holds a boom, 2 masts (430-460), and 3/4 sails (4.8, 5.6, 6.4, 7.2). I've scoured the internet, but came up empty handed. The only comparable bags that I can find are all in Europe. Living in windy SW Colorado, I'm fortunate enough to have some stellar sailing locations! However, sometimes it's a 1.5 hour drive to the beach. I don't want my dog to stomp on my gear in the back of then truck. Any thoughts? Ideas?

Cheers,
Mark

Leave Dawg home.
Leash him.
Cage him.
Cage your gear.
Let him ride up front.

A bud was bombing down the freeway and happened to see his beloved dog (is there any other type?) hanging outside the pickup bed by his front paws and fighting for his life. He had the presence of mind to stop SLOWLY and save his dog's life.

According to the Humane Society of the United States, 100,000 dogs are killed each year in accidents involving riding in truck beds. Countless more are injured by ejection, leaping out, debris and bugs hitting their faces at highway speeds, and more. People are not doing their ignorant dogs any favor by letting them ride unprotected in pickup beds.

When I was a kid, the kids rode in the Pick-Up beds. Of course, then, there was not any windsurf gear in the way....

People still ride in the back of pickups in Hawaii.

"cloth" quiver bags are a PITA to put on the roof
and cannot really be left on roof when emptied
i.e. don't drive with that on

buddy has a Thule box and fits 460 materials and down in it

i have often considered building a plywood box

have sails and no dog

Give Northwave Sails in Hood River a call. They do custom sewing and could likely make you one that suits your needs. I bought one from them back in the mid 90's and still use it today for road trips down to Cape Hatteras. The one they made me was out of very heavy duty cordura fabric - holds 6 sails and straps down to the top of your sail board.

Good luck finding a Thule/Yakima box that can even manage a 430. They are all too short by an inch or two except for the very old ones that aren't often available.
