Been out for a while: it is very nice but unfortunately it does not seem to help me at all ... |

Nice vid.
I'd like to see someone explain how to slow down (quickly stop) in a gust without breaching. Right now, my emergency stop procedure is to grit teeth, sheet out, breach, crash down and catapult. |

Rig smaller!
Still a novice, I survive 2-4 breaches a day, by sheeting in hard, standing on front leg, absorb the nose hit, and pull down on the boom to pressure mast base while in footstraps and now slogging at 2 mph.
Then step forward. |

I don't think there's any way to stop quickly in a gust other than crashing, but there are some ways to regain control so you can slow down and stop if you want. I have had some success with various combinations of these-
1. Sheeting way out and moving my boom hands close to the mast, but still leaning forward and pressing down hard on the boom to keep the nose down.
2. Turning way upwind.
3. Turning way downwind.
4. Having my back foot on the centerline of the board instead of in the outside strap. _________________ James' Blog: Windsurfing Equipment Size Calculator

As in windsurfing, you CANNOT stop. You can slow down, as said head up or down, but you CANNOT stop. |

Two ways to STOP, and NOW when WSing include pearling and a full wheelie. I do not intend to deliberately try either on a foil.
And if stopping while windsurfing includes ceasing to move in the direction one was headed (e.g., to avoid an object), that's easily done if the board and rider can swerve 90 degrees instantly without needing to unhook, unstrap, or maneuver the sail. |

Doubt Wevans is looking to CRASH in order to avoid breaching. |
