I'll never own a LT, I think many people feel the same.

That's probably correct. The only LT I've seen was standing around at Ocean Air in Hatteras collecting dust. There's a bunch of windsurfers I know who have bought foils there (and at other places).

Same on the beach. There's an occasional longboard to be seen, either by the one local who competes internationally, or by guys who come with ancient gear. Kona sightings are very rare, and I have not seen a single LT at Kalmus. Foils can be seen on a regular basis. Yesterday was typical. When the heat killed the wind, the only ones left out on the water were a couple of light windsurfers and three foils. And that was around low tide, where you needed a shorter mast to go foiling. I was on 45 cm (quite interesting), Nina was on 60 cm which was too long at least once. At least one guy who showed up on a somewhat regular basis with a longboard now comes with a foil. Others have longboards which they (almost) never bring to the beach. None of them would spend money on a Windsurfer LT, but a few have expressed interest in foiling.

If you want foiling in the Olympics because you, yourself foil, I can agree. But I wouldn't say it would be any more fun to watch foils racing than any other board. They'll still be doing the same courses, and, since cameramen keep the rider centered in the picture, it will look like they're standing still, as it will with planing races done on the R:SX.
