It is amusing to examine the pathology of the far right mind. Jump to conclusions, don’t check facts, post a wife’s tale, and then scream when someone objects. Boggsman started with this posting:

Quote:
However, with regards to Red Meat, the cow is one of the biggest taxes on our land. Outrageous amount of water needed, they stomp out/kill the ground they walk on, and they fill our fat little obese kids with future diabetes, and heart disease
.

Matty’s response, without qualification:

Quote:
Diabetes??? that's all from sugars from sweets, processed foods like crackers and breads even pasta.

Should Matty have bothered to check, he would have readily found this:

Quote:
Diabetes has become more common in countries where food is plentiful. Excess sugar consumption can lead to obesity, cardiovascular disease, and other health problems. However, its relationship with type 2 diabetes is still complex and unclear.
The number of people with diabetes in the United States increased more than threefold between 1990 and 2010.

Research into the connection between sugar consumption and type 2 diabetes is ongoing. Most doctors argue that sugar alone does not trigger diabetes. It is a complicated condition that develops due to a range of factors.
Type 2 diabetes is the most common type. Excess body weight may contribute to its development.

In this article, we look at emerging studies that explore the possible link between sugar consumption and the development of type 2 diabetes.

The link between sugar and diabetes is complicated.
Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes affect the body's ability to regulate blood glucose levels.

Sugar consumption will not directly cause either type. However, eating too much can cause weight gain. Obesity is a risk factor for type 2 diabetes.

Of course, Boggs’ conclusion about red meat is well founded:

Quote:
By Steven Reinberg
HealthDay Reporter
MONDAY, June 17 (HealthDay News) -- People who eat a lot of red meat increase their risk of developing type 2 diabetes, while those who cut down on red meat cut their risk.

Those are the findings of a large new study out of Singapore involving 149,000 U.S. men and women.

The researchers found that increasing the consumption of red meat can increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 48 percent.

Now I am not arguing that excessive consumption of sugar is good for your health. Berkeley was one of the first cities to tax sugary soda because of the relationship to increased obesity. Sugar in sodas is just empty calories, and consumption of too many calories--from whatever source--leads to obesity which has a host of health issues, not merely diabetes. Indeed, current research has shown that even diet soda has long-term health risks.

Of course, regulation of such products, or tax policies that reflect the costs that such products add to the public sector, is routinely opposed by "conservatives." But the idea that sugar causes all diabetes is pure bunk. Boggs is right, Matty is, as usual, wrong.

I don't doubt some correlation between red meat and diabetes. However, was this free range, no antibiotic, organic meat, or factory farmed? Are there other factors in parallel with red meat? What about fish and chicken?

I'd think you'd be hard pressed to have diabetes if you only ate meat and salad.

Keep spinning stupid old fool, I'm enjoying watching you attempt to prove me wrong....you have not.

Excessive sugar is by far the biggest culprit , only a complete moron would deny that...

. Sugar Increases Your Risk of Type 2 Diabetes
The worldwide prevalence of diabetes has more than doubled over the past 30 years (16Trusted Source).

Though there are many reasons for this, there is a clear link between excessive sugar consumption and diabetes risk.

Obesity, which is often caused by consuming too much sugar, is considered the strongest risk factor for diabetes (17Trusted Source).

What’s more, prolonged high-sugar consumption drives resistance to insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas that regulates blood sugar levels.

Insulin resistance causes blood sugar levels to rise and strongly increases your risk of diabetes.

A population study comprising over 175 countries found that the risk of developing diabetes grew by 1.1% for every 150 calories of sugar, or about one can of soda, consumed per day (18Trusted Source).

Other studies have also shown that people who drink sugar-sweetened beverages, including fruit juice, are more likely to develop diabetes (19Trusted Source, 20Trusted Source).

Matty didn’t even bother to read his post. “...of course it’s not that simple, ...diabetes is a multi-factorial disease with many different types of causes...”

The ignorant fool claimed that sugar caused all diabetes, said red meat wasn’t a factor, (it increases risk by 48%) and said fat doesn’t cause people to get fat. Too much sugar in the diet can make you obese, as can too many calories from any source. And type 2 diabetes is a disease of obesity. I would readily agee that there is too much sugar in the American diet, and it is bad for health in many ways—particularly heart disease. However, the argument that sugar is responsible for all diabetes is utter, ignorant nonsense.

Like most ignorant—and lazy—conservatives, Matty takes no responsibility for the accuracy of his statements. Taking personal responsibility is no longer a value for the Trumpists. Bringing to mind this observation by Confucius: “If language is not correct, then what is said is not what is meant; if what is said is not what is meant, then what must be done remains undone; if this remains undone, morals and art will deteriorate; if justice goes astray, the people will stand about in helpless confusion. Hence, there must be no arbitrariness in what is said. This matters above everything.”

Literate people had your number nearly 2500 years ago.

Poor old Mac , proven wrong and trying to cling to one little tidbit...you truly are pathetic....

Bottom line , excessive sugar is by far the biggest problem in the US diet, red meat linked to diabetes is questionable and only a MINOR factor if any compared to sugar and processed carbs......

Read the article again stupid, it's saying it's complicated but sugar is absolutely the main culprit......ONLY A COMPLETE MORON would deny that.

You're wrong moron and I was right from the get go, but watching you squirm is entertaining.....

Generally speaking, Type 2 Diabetes is caused by the body's inability to properly process insulin. As opposed to type 1 where the body cannot produce insulin, type 2 is caused primarily by genetics, and lifestyle. A sedentary lifestyle, with unhealthy eating habits--processed foods, red meats, and things that have an adverse impact on your body's digestive system and metabolism all help to contribute to the problem.

Type 2 is not usually caused by genetics, it's mostly what you said above but self inflicted, not passed down..Just like lung cancer from smoking, self inflicted..
