If, after reading that link that Grantmac kindly provided, you back out into “gear reviews” you will find another interesting thread three threads below about sailing light wind waves. Not the goal, but good stuff on larger volume wave riding.

The new carbon 8 6 sealion is supposed to be fast. One clocked 24knts at a speed trial. I own the 83 and know that 24knts isnt even close to possible with mine. On another note i have a quatro cube 110 which is a great wave board but slow. Just got a new 106 cube and it sails bigger and faster than the 110. Jp

The board you describe is the board I make for my own uses. Very silky smooth riding, continuous shallow arc along the back 60% of the rail guarantees smooth slashing, nice shallow concaves to promote very early and near effortless planing, a little narrower to make cutting thru crazy cross chop as smooth as possible. It has lots of "V" front thru back, and concave releases along rails release water flat so it doesn't hydro-blast your front leg. Somewhat sharp release from just behind mast track all the way to tail. About 1/4" tail kick for the last 16", with accellerating "V" in the rear rails. Just big enough to be able to ride a 6.8 for my 245 lbs, enough float to keep me up and get home when the wind drops to 10-12mph. Can be very fast if you really push it or very controllable in the slashy stuff.About 125 liters. You never get the feeling that it is pushing pushing pushing water then pops up.....it just glides easily onto a plane. The pics are before I routed out the mast track.

The closest thing I have found next to it is an older SPEED SLIDER.

Sorry I wasn't clear...the mast track is there, I just hadn't routed out the track slot before painting. As you can tell, I'm not into pointy board noses. Tomorrow I will do some photo's of the bottom to show how it works.

Thanks. This one has about 300 sessions on it and has no soft spots. I used 1/4" Corecell top and bottom, and lots of S-glass and carbon. I'm planning to do another similar one this winter. It will be a couple inches shorter and a little narrower in the rear 24".
