What do you recommend for inflight harness lines and what should I avoid? Looking for info on brands and models. I want to install a set on my new boom which will be mostly for slalom/formula riding. |

Duotone adjustables are great, probably my favorite lines ever. They have two separate pulls for lengthening and shortening. The price is good, too. Note that the length is a bit different from Chinook, 28 Duotone = 30 Chinook |

The Inflights aren't very easy to adjust in use, I have a set on my LB boom and don't bother.
The Races adjust easily but flop around quite a bit. |

The Chinook Race provide enough length for longboard racing. Few others do with the supplied line length. I also like that the cleat faces down, meaning that I can pull down though the cleat when shortening the line and can lock it just by altering the angle I’m pulling ever so slightly.
I’ve not used the Duotone but have used or tried pretty much everything else, including the all-plastic version (the name of which I don’t recall) that some RSX racers like. They are terrific but don’t have the range I need.
Sailworks uses a v-jam cleat that requires an upward tug to engage. That works ok for lower booms or taller sailors but only makes the angle difficult at my height when using high booms.
Buckle/strap designs end up jamming as the strap swells with use and gets funky in salt water. Maybe the inflight design represents an improvement? I’d assume so.
The best lines I’ve ever used were made by Dakine and employed a spring-loaded cam lock. Press down on the cam with a thumb (like a rack strap’s buckle) and the strap pulls through to lengthen. Releasing thumb pressure closes the cam and locks the line. Shortening the line required nothing more than pulling the strap through the cam. The main issues were corrosion of the cam and limited adjustability range. I loved them while they were around. It looks like Duotone brought that design back from the dead!!! Gotta get a pair! _________________ Support Your Sport. Join US Windsurfing!
