Nor does it say whether the children died OF Covid or WITH Covid. In many hospitals and many states, deaths of people with any evidence of having had Covid are attributed to coronavirus (never mind the bullets or guardrail in his chest or her massive heart attack).

Most men of middle age or more will die WITH prostate cancer. "Only" about 360,000 die OF it each year.

Another freedom may soon be taken from Washington State residents: the right and expectation to live a normal life span. Our insane governor is trying his damnedest to pass or just make up a law downgrading the seriousness and sentencing guidelines of drive-by shootings.

His open rationale? Too many blacks are involved, so prosecution of them is inequitable.

And this clown wants to run for POTUS?

CDC: Children 17 and Under Account for 0.057% of All COVID-Involved Deaths in U.S.

(CNSNews.com) - As of Wednesday, August 4, a total 349 children ages 0-17 have died of COVID since the pandemic began in January 2020, based on death certificates submitted so far to the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics.

In that same time period, CDC counts a total of 606,389 COVID-involved deaths in the United States. So children account for 0.057 percent of all COVID-involved deaths, or those coded to ICD–10 code U07.1.

CDC does not disclose what, if any, underlying conditions those 349 children may have had.

Since January 2020, the CDC has recorded 51,892 deaths from all causes in children 0-17, which means the 349 COVID-involved deaths equals 0.67 percent of the deaths in children from all causes.

So we should just let them die and infect others because its not that bad.

I’m sure glad I didn’t have children in your classes.

Irrelevant.. Covid, came along, now they're dead. Of it, or with it does not matter.

While 5 MONTH old data reiterated by Techno that was published by a right wing source is interesting (the data may be correct but the spin in the article is worth noting), it is irrelevant to the current version of COVID (Omicron). What the folks, that are truly interested in finding the facts, are finding is that the Omicron MAY affect children in different, and maybe more profound ways, than previous versions did. What they are also finding is that COVID may affect us in ways that have long term effects with even with mild or moderate cases.

Also, it is worth noting that Omicron is more easily caught and spread in younger populations. Worth noting is that many children did not catch COVID (the original) at all (my brother's kids are great examples) even when both parents had the disease. Their smaller sinus and lungs were some protection. That may well NOT be the case with Omicron. My friends who are Pediatricians (I have two such friends) are very concerned that kids may well be the targets for the new virus mutations. And, to add fuel to that concern is that pediatric ICU beds are not as widely available. The nearest one is often hundreds of miles away in rural areas.

So, instead of considering the current situation, Techno, you provide a link to the old data and present it as part of a discussion. Why this spin right now? Shouldn't, instead, we be considering the very real possibility that the Omicron is a game changer for our kids and we should be concerned instead of spending the energy spinning for the right?

Another brilliant analysis which will really help decision makers determine whether schools should be closed again.

Once again, CB tries to characterize vaccine hesitancy as a right vs left issue. It is not.

Mrgybe. You are wrong. It IS a right vs left issue.

White evangelical Christians and people who're under 65 who don't have health insurance are the most likely to say they "definitely" will not get a COVID-19 vaccine, according to a July poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation. How people identify politically also matters, according to the foundation, as Republicans make up 58% of the group who said they definitely won't get vaccinated. White Americans polled were much more likely to be adamantly against the vaccine than the people of color that were queried, who made up 40% of the group who say they want to "wait and see" before they get the COVID-19 vaccine.

More from the Kaiser Family Foundation:

https://www.kff.org/policy-watch/the-red-blue-divide-in-covid-19-vaccination-rates/

Quote:
There continue to be differences in COVID-19 vaccination rates along partisan lines, a gap that has grown over time. We’ve documented this in our COVID-19 Vaccine Monitor surveys of the public, and we’ve been tracking county-level data to assess vaccination rates in counties that voted for Trump in the 2020 Presidential election compared to those that voted for Biden.

Quote:
As of September 13, 2021, 52.8% of people in counties that voted for Biden were fully vaccinated compared to 39.9% of Trump counties, a 12.9 percentage point difference (Figure 1). While the rate of vaccination coverage has slowed in both county groups, the gap has widened over time (Figure 2)
.

Got some data, Mrgybe, that disputes this?
